From these Factsheets I have included information from them of which I have found useful in knowing more about the Music Industry and helps me understand it's purpose in more depth.

Music Industry

From these two definitions I understand the differences between a Record company and Record label and how the two can work as a conglomerate in publishing and creating music. It has also shown me that different record labels work within their own organisation for recording artists and bands music, to be sold by the larger parent record company in making profits.

Linking to my research on ownership and copyrights, this shows me how recording contracts are important for record labels to gain a band or recording artist's trust in using their music and producing or publishing it. This also shows how important for my own products to include information and have a awareness of recording labels or companies that the song I have chosen is recognised.

With this information it highlights that not all record labels are dependant or have a conglomerate with a larger parent company. Some record labels are independent and work away from sufficient support from major record companies, however this can be problematic to it's funding a reputation in the music industry. Though those who are subsidiary can be more appealing to their audiences without limiting an artists creativity by a major company intervening. Parlophone is the record label of which my chosen song 'Ready to question' was released by and is owned by EMI, which is a major record company. This could hint how Gabrielle Aplin can establish her creativity with the independence of Parlophone but be widely recognised through the major company of EMI.

This is new information on vanity label, that illustrates how even artists can be in control of the music industry not just a product of it. With this, the artist can create huge profits and gain a bigger status for themselves. It also helps generate new artists that fans can be attracted to due to the artist in charge. This shows me how involved artists can be with not just recording and selling their music but also being a part of the whole industry itself.

This section particularly highlights the importance of different types of media in expanding and broadcasting music. With a variety of methods to market and distribute music, record labels/companies can reach and appeal audiences globally as well as promoting the artist to a mass and niche audience, heightening their status quo. This helps me in realising that with my task to make a music video through digital media and using print to make my ancillary tasks, shows the affect media has on audiences who are influenced and companies that produce.
